Great Horned Owl - "The Last Staredown" is the last portrait photo of this particular owl.  It was hiding at the base of a tree because, unbeknownst to the photographer at the time, it was dying from eating a poisoned rat from another location.  This photo memorializes one of the most beautiful and magnificent Great Horned Owls ever photographed by Lillian Cucuzza.
